  1. At the end of a hard slog getting it together in Leeds, it was just so personally rtewarding that just about everything came together and was a success - the Monoblocan guys (lovely, gorgeous!), the workshops (inspirational), the performance (motivational). We, the performers, loved it, the audience loved it. You can’t really wish for more than that!

  3. I’m still buzzing off our gig with monobloco… They rocked, and they helped us to rock too! Such wonderful musicians, but also patient and inspiring teachers. The workshops were fantastic, the gig was electric. Obrigada monobloco e tudo de bom pra voces.

  4. What a fantastic experience! The two days of rehearsals before the gig brought my playing on in leaps and bounds. The guys from Monobloco were amazing, brilliant teachers, incredible musicians and above all top blokes. The best thing to come from all this for myself is that it has inspired people in my own bloco and opened their eyes to the possibilities that could be achieved. I would like to thank cachaca for finally getting the batida for the cavaquinho into my head.

Top guys, top gig. Big up to the brigantes crew and JP.

  6. Thank you so much to all from Monobloco for sharing your talent, energy, patience and good humour. I hope you managed to keep track of everybody in the band since leaving Leeds… Big round of applause to all those in Bloco Brigantes who made it happen (especially director extraordinaire JP). Lots of people worked very hard and the results speak for themselves. The project has been a real inspiration and we can’t wait to welcome you back here.

  7. Hi Monobloco guys and JP

The Bloco Brigantes workshops through 2007 - 2008 were amazing and the show at Leeds Met was even better than that!
The good news is that it looks like we’re going to do it all again in 2009. We can’t wait to get started. Whoopee!!!!

  8. As a member of Bloco Brigantes we worked with JP Courtney from Oct 2007 ending with workshops with Monobloco and a gig at Leeds Met on 16th July 2008.
As a total novice to samba at the beginning I have to say I have NEVER had so much FUN with my clothes on.
JP is a lovely, lovely guy and an excellent teacher.
Monobloco are the nicest bunch of guys you could ever meet. It was a pleasure to have three of you guys to stay ( sorry it rained on ya so much ) and an absolute honour to work with you.
To sum up,the whole experience was truly AWESOME!!!

Muito Beijos e abracos ( hope thats right )

Big hugs and kisses to all involved, especially Fabio,You Rock!!

    Barb. xx
