Hi & Welcome! This page is intended for busy potential bookers.

Who are Monobloco?

MONOBLOCO have built up a remarkable reputation over the last 8 years on Rio’s Carnival scene. Their latest live CD & DVD have been widely acclaimed. They were recorded at Circo Voador, Lapa, Rio de Janeiro and feature special appearances by such illustrious Brazilian artists as Lenine, Fernanda Abreu, MC’s Júnior e Leonardo and Pedro Quental.

They are now synonymous with the revival of Rio de Janeiro´s street Carnival music, rescuing the classical Brazilian carnival culture and blending other Brazilian musical genres with samba.

Their annual pre-carnival parties, attracting 4,000 people a night, and their Carnival parade, along Copacabana, with more than 2000,000 revelers, have been huge successes. In order to take the unique Carioca (native of Rio) experienceacross Brazil and abroad they have developed a smaller format show. This is the MONOBLOCO SHOW, a percussion group comprised of 16 to 21 professional musicians.

The MONOBLOCO SHOW is a real party that has satisfied the widest range of audiences.

Bringing 9 top musicians from Rio and joining with 2 from the UK and 2 from Ireland, the guys toured the UK & Ireland in 2007 & 2008 with a 13 strong team. They delivered many excellent performances and gave many informative workshops. The 2008 tour ended with an earth moving performance at WOMAD in Charlton Park, Wiltshire.
